Barriers and Bridges is the theme of Viewpoint’s annual Photo Month student exhibit.  This year’s collection includes 31 images: nine by high school students and 22 college students from schools throughout Sacramento, Yolo, San Joaquin, Solano and Placer counties. The photos were selected from over 100 images submitted for this juried open call. For the image selection process, students were asked to consider: What comes to mind when you think about making a photograph to tell a story about barriers and bridges?  Do you have a favorite bridge or a barrier you would like to explore photographically? When you hear the title, do you reflect on social, cultural, and emotional barriers and bridges?

Exhibit Juror: Patty Felkner, Professor of Photography at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento

Students will be awarded three prizes at the Artists’ Reception on April 13th. The prizes include: First Place--$200; Second Place--$150 and Third Place--$100.

Co-curators: Diana Proctor, Shelley Carlise and Cynthia Van Horne
